20. Two Worlds
Two worlds exist. The one, a place of light
All coloured, bright and glittering; of time
That stretches limitless in halcyon days’
Of sounds and scents acute, of wrong and right,.
Where musical the air with faery chime
And palpitant with loyalties ablaze.
The other, dark and hidden, clothed in night,
Hems like the sea, impersonal and sublime,
Our little fastness where we go our ways,
Unheeding till the tempest roars its might.
Then at a stroke the world we thought secure
Falls in a welter of confusion, wrecked
By what our conscious selves, of life so sure,
Have grown bemused by flesh not to sustpect.
