Piano Rain
The piano notes fall through the air
Soft drops of rain that kiss
My soul and bathe my body
Wash the dust and grit
From eyes and grit
From eyes and hair.
They cover me with a cool and gentle spray
Enveloping my senses with a cloak
Of gentleness
Calling up flowers around my feet
And making rivulets of melody
On which the gondolas of my dreams
Float with a rhythmic ease.
Cascades of notes
Pour down the gutters of anxiety
Thinning the sludge of grime of pain
Till all runs clear and sweet.
I see through windows blurred with drops
The landscape of resentment melt
Into a world of lovely lines
Such as a man might see
In sudden unaccustomed tears.
