There Is No Land
(From “A Song of Sherwood”)
With apologies to Tennyson
There is no land like Mona
Where’er the light of day be;
There are no hearts like stout Manx hearts,
Such hearts of steel as they be.
There are no men like true Manxmen,
So shy yet bold as they be.
And these will work for Mona,
And men and maids be free
To foil and thwart the spoiler
Of Mona’s fair countree.
There is no land like Mona
Where’er the light of day be;
There are no wives like sweet Manx wives,
Hospitable as they be,
So beautiful as they be !
And these are the crown of Mona,
And these are her treasure store;
And these will charm the stranger
Till time and love are no more !
