The Lay of the Lord
(From “The Lord of Manninland”)
If everyone lived in a garden
Surrounded by blossoms fair,
Their hearts they would not harden,
Their thoughts would be free from care,
And despair !
The rain maybe falling in showers
And grey clouds may be hanging on high
But deep in your heart spring the flowers
If you but look up to the sky.
Thank Heaven for the friends
That your destiny sends,
They will brighten your life till it ends.
When days all seem grey spend the hours
By looking at God’s pageantry !
If everyone lived in the sunshine
The blues would be known no more;
Let love bathe your hearts in its sunshine,
Live like blooms that we all adore,
Evermore.
