The Merry Hunters

(From “Just like a Dream” )

We’re huntin’ the country in search of a fox,

Or in fact any elephant, maggot or ox;

And if we see beavers or badgers or bears

Or come upon sharks or on mice unawares,

We quickly despatch ‘em as soon as we catch ‘em,

In scores and in dozens, half-dozens and pairs.

Tally-ho,  tally-ho,  tally-ho !

We’re gallopin’ madly through meadows and woods;

We’re cant’rin’ in all sorts of weathers and moods;

And woe betide bison and buffalo and moose,

Or any lone quadruped out on the loose.

We quickly despatch ‘em as soon as we catch ‘em,

In scores and in dozens, half-dozens and twos.

Tally-ho,  tally-ho,  tally-ho !

We’re keen on the chase and we’re hot on the trail;

We’ve bagged quite a number of slugs and a snail,

And just at the moment we’re lookin’ for loop-holes

Where some may be hidin’, for we have no scruples.

We quickly despatch ‘em as soon as we catch ‘em,

In scores and in dozens, half-dozens and couples.

Tally-ho,  tally-ho,  tally-ho !
