The Christening
On Easter Day the lilies fair
Gladdened all hearts and filled the air
With a pervasive fragrance fair.
On Easter Day the church was bright
With an ethereal heavenly light
That floated down from stellar height.
On Easter Day, untouched by blame,
To the great church the baby came,
There to be blessed and giv’n a name.
On Easter Day the people heard
Again the power of a Word,
And in their hearts were moved and stirred.
On Easter Day a Saviour rose
Triumphant over death and foes:
Of that the little baby knows.
