22. The Country Life

Blue sky and golden sun,

The scent of new-mown hay,

And a parcel of fun

When the work is done

At the closing of the day.

Blue eyes and golden hair,

The fragrance of a flower,

And a look and a stare

And some kisses to spare

At the lovers’ trysting hour.

True heart and simple deed,

A knowing God above;

This is all that I need,

The extent of my meed,

And the heartsome glow of love.
