Oh, Father, from Thy lofty seat,
Oh, hear our simple prayer!
Be with the toilers on the deep,
Safe keep them in Thy care.
Be with the wives who wait at home,
Be with the children too,
And may they know that Thou their God
Will guide them safely through.
Be with the sick and sorrowing,
Oh, Father, hear our prayer!
And save the lone and fatherless
From torment and despair.
Lord, keep us all from sinful ways,
Teach us Thy way of love,
That we may know, when life is done,
Another life above!
(A hymn written for Miss Cissie Costain, an invalid suffering from arthritis at Ballamoar, Arbory, Isle of Man, and accepted by her. August 1924).
